Proof Lab’s mission from the start was to create more than a one stop shop for surfing essentials. Will Hutchinson and Nate McCarthy wanted to create a community center. So, this surf shop has an indoor skatepark, music classes, a pottery studio, coffee shop, and beer garden. Proof Lab is the perfect example of how surf shops are the cornerstones of any surf community.
ZJ Boarding House– Santa Monica, CA
Founded in 1988, ZJ Boarding house has seen a lot of changes in surf culture over the course of 33 years in business. They use this experience to help enhance the experience and provide expert customer service to whoever walks through their door. The people at ZJ’s truly live the life they are selling and are able to assist surfers with their gear purchases at any level.
Cinnamon Rainbows Surf Shop– Hampton, NH
This family and surfer owned-and-operated business has been supplying New England surfers with a full range of essentials since 1983. Its cheerful name is an homage to the founder, Cape Cod surfer ___, favorite wave. But the bright rainbow storefront draws in many curious beach-goers who find not only a well stocked store but also lessons and helpful advice from experienced surfers.
Gypsy Life West Surf Shop– West Palm Beach, FL
Gypsy Life is much loved in Florida for their carefully curated collection of bohemian surfer fashion. Their store has a larger than average selection of home goods and women’s clothes. But they also have a stocked supply of surf hardgoods for the dedicated Florida surf community. Customers are consistently impressed by how the staff goes above and beyond to help their customers.
