Sometimes all you need is a good old fashion surf trip. After months of grinding away pouring beers, teaching surf lessons, and picking up any odd job I could get my hands on, I opted to squander my earnings on a plane ticket in hopes of a little soul recharge.Â

When prepping for the trip I decided on three models that would cover any conditions a new surf destination could throw at me:
The Triggerfish: Straight off the secret menu. An old school template from the Solid rafters that in my opinion is the perfect hybrid fish. A classic wide nose meets a swallow tail to make the perfect small wave fish. Ride it as a twinny if you want to spice up your next small wave session.
The Sasquash: My everyday shortboard. Featuring a standard shortboard template with a little bit of a wider tail, its goes in a variety of conditions and will work for a good grovel when needed. Board also features a deep single concave through the whole board, allowing for a little extra rocker without losing drive.
The Vinny: A very well rounded step up suitable for anything up to double overhead. Great in top to bottom tubes but also keeps paddling power when there’s some more water moving. Consider it an everyday shortboard with a slightly fuller nose outline with a more gradual rocker to offer a little extra glide to get into steeper waves a little earlier.
